friend; a person you know well and trust.

Plural: ditsala (friends)Setswana · noun

Made for the people you actually know

When you buy a new house or a baby arrives or your kid scores the big goal, everyone wants the photos and videos. Group chats are noisy and messy. Traditional social media sells your life to strangers. tsala is different.

Share your life, your way

We're all part of unique social circles that see different slices of our lives. tsala lets you name, organize, and arrange all of your people to easily share what you want with the circles who'll care most.

Easy invitations

Once we're officially launched, family and friends can join with your personal invite link in less than a minute from our apps or on the web and be immediately connected to you. You can even pay for your mom's subscription so she never sees a bill.

How tsala privacy works, in plain words

You're our customer, not our product. Everything you post is encrypted on your phone or desktop before it reaches us. Only you and the people you share with have the keys to decrypt and view it.

What we can't see

The content of your posts, photos, videos, audio, comments, and messages.

What we can see

We need to deliver your posts to the right people, so we maintain access to your account details and membership, which devices you use, the people in your circles, and when things are posted. We will never sell it or use it for ads.

What we can't stop

People you share with can still save or screenshot what they see, and deleting a post can't remove copies they made.

Cookies are delicious but yucky on websites. This page has no ads, trackers, or cookies so that's why we don't need the typical warning banner you see everywhere else.

A small membership fee is our whole business model. No ads, ever.

Circle member

$12 a year

Create and manage your own circles

Share your life and interact privately with family and friends. Pics, video, and audio: it's the traditional social media experience without all the annoying parts—though Uncle Earl will still be there with his fishing stories if y'all decide to invite him along.

$1 a year per circle

Participate in any circle you're invited to

Plenty of people skip social media but still belong to groups that need somewhere to share. Your Saturday running group, the kids' PTA, a neighborhood association, your faith community — groups of five or five hundred can thrive on tsala. Organizers decide who's in and set the rules, so a community of any size gets the same ad-free experience and the same tsala privacy promise for everything it shares.

Special offer: everyone who requests an invite gets the first 3 months for $1 once we officially launch

tsala will be free throughout our beta. We will not require payment until our official launch.

Community is a human right. Online, it should be safe, private, and entirely yours.

I'm Jerry Aubin, Co-Founder and CEO of Lekanyane Ventures. For the past twenty years I helped build and ultimately led an online community where employers and recruiters collaborated on $2bn worth of recruitments. My team and I changed an industry and now we're thrilled to bring that experience to our new mission at Lekanyane Ventures:

You're our customer, not our product.

We've built that principle into our new platform, tsala.me ("friend" in Setswana), that provides what you actually want from online communication: a place to stay connected to the people you care about and where all of your content is encrypted end-to-end with keys only you hold.

Since we can't see your data, we can't ever pitch you advertising or build an algorithm to manipulate you with it. For only $12 a year you can say goodbye to the hassles of ads and strangers and posts you never signed up for and hello to a wonderful community focused on your life, your loved ones, and your privacy.

Join us.

Questions

When can I join?

We're currently running a closed beta and inviting groups of connected people to join in larger and larger numbers to be sure it's a great experience. Unfortunately, we can't promise a date for your beta invitation but plan to be fully launched around the end of the year.

What if I'm super excited and want to cut the line?

We've heard that a lot of people are excited to join and would love to start using tsala as fast as possible. When sending invitations, we will consider two factors: signup order and the size of your group. When friends and family join together, we know they'll have people to share with on day one. This means you should ask the important people in your life to register using the referral link we will send you so that we'll know you're signing up together.

Should I request an invite even if I want to wait for your public launch?

Even if you would prefer to wait until our public launch to start using tsala, requesting an invite now qualifies you for special launch pricing. We are not charging during the beta, but you will get your first 3 months of use after launch for $1 if you request an invite now regardless of whether you receive and accept an invitation before public launch. If you remove yourself from the list, or we delete your information after 12 months, the offer ends with it.

Do I need a fancy smartphone?

You don't need a fancy smartphone for tsala because you'll get the same great community experience across iPhone, Android, or our desktop apps (Mac, Windows, Linux). Your dad can keep his flip phone and still see the baby pictures.

What happens to the information you're asking for right now?

We only use the information you provide for the beta: to decide who to invite and when, and to contact you about it. You can remove yourself at any time by emailing privacy@tsala.me, which permanently deletes your details.

Why does my invite link have my name in it?

Your invite link and QR code will have your name so that whoever you send it to will trust that it came from you. We also want people to make sure they are sending invites to people they know and trust rather than posting it for random people to use.
